Wowza! These ooey sticky delicious bars are everything you want from a candy bar without all the nasties!
Homemade Twix Bars
Shortbread crust
2 c homemade oat flour (just blend oats in blender)
1/2 c coconut flour
1/2 c maple syrup
1 tsp vanilla
1/4 c melted coconut oil
Water to combine into dough
Caramel layer
1 c coconut sugar
1 c chilled thick coconut cream from can of coconut milk out of fridge (use the liquid to thin your caramel if needed)
Chocolate layer
1 c melted Hu brand chocolate chips
1 Tbsp coconut oil
Directions:
Mix dough ingredients together in bowl and add water
Begin to need until dough becomes sticky and holds together when smooshed in hands
Gradually add water until this happens
For the caramel, add all ingredients to a small sauce pot and bring to a boil then reduce to a simmer to thicken
*If sauce becomes to thin, place in a bowl in the fridge to thicken
For chocolate, add all ingredients to a small sauce pot and melt down
To build, take out shortbread and allow to cook, pour and spread caramel layer on top, add melted chocolate, then place in freezer to solidify for an hour
Slice into squares and devour!
